Computer Store Tour

Well, it was a fun tour, though attendance was slight.

Reed, Jeff Wilcox, Alex, and Esther met at Nagoya Station Clock around 12:05 to tour Bic Camera. Later, at around 1:30 on entering SofMap we met up with Stephen. And inside SofMap we met up with Alex's family!

At Bic, we discussed and looked at cameras (Canon and Lumix). Then Esther bought her much wanted Logitech Webcam, Jeff got some Epson printer inks. We looked at cube PCs. Jeff gave a short dissertation on RAID arrays. And we saw the new generation of blue laser DVD/RWs for sale at high prices !

At SofMap Reed bought a Samsung 250 GB IDE HD (later regretted as Eden had a similarly priced/spec Maxtor). Esther bought some discounted DVD-Rs. We were impressed by SofMaps low prices but not by their new huge inventory of games.

We walked several blocks to Bard's Coffee across from the old Mac Store to have lunch and coffees. After a good rest we proceeded to Eden to look at Macs both new and used. Then up to the 5th floor to look at new notebook and desktop PCs, LCD screens, and CPU, mobo, and HDD prices.

Definitely a fun and easy tour. We a good time looking and shopping. We discussed practicalities more than mechanics.
